Study
Predicting Risk for Metabolic Syndrome (MetSyn) (2014-2015)
Objective
Study was conducted to determine the ability of the BEST scan to detect presence or absence of Metabolic Syndrome as diagnosed and determined by the NCEP/APTIII criteria.
Design
Prospective, single-center, non-randomized feasibility study trial of 193 patients who met eligibility criteria. Men and women aged 21-85 who were free of or not on any treatment for cancer, renal failure, autoimmune disorders, and MS were enrolled.
Results
Demonstrated safety and effectiveness. The BEST scan had a statistically significant correlation with Metabolic Syndrome as demonstrated by medical diagnosis (AUC = .97)
